85 Riders from 8 Tertiary Institutions To Compete in the Rip Curl National Inter Varsity Poly Wakeboarding Championships This Weekend at Kallang Riverside Park (28th & 29th June 2008)
The Singapore Waterski & Wakeboard Federation’s 2008 competitive wakeboard season kick’s off this weekend with the Rip Curl National Inter Varsity Wakeboarding Championships at Kallang Riverside Park. 85 riders from the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Management University, Singapore Institute of Management, Singapore Polytechnic, Temasek Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic and Republic Polytechnic will compete for national individual and team overall titles.
Teams from the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and Temasek Polytechnic competed in the first National Inter Varsity Polytechnic Championships at Sentosa Cove in 2002. Since then, the RipCurl Inter Varsity Polytechnic Nationals have been held annually at Kallang Riverside Park. SMU, the overall champions in 2006 & 2007, will be looking to defend their team overall title.
The 2008 Rip Curl National Inter Varsity National Wakeboard Championships is held in conjunction with Singapore’s International Water Week, which is a global platform for water solutions. It has brought together policymakers, industry leaders, experts and practitioners together to address challenges, showcase technologies, discover opportunities and celebrate achievements in the water world.
